After weeks of declines, the crypto market appears to be catching its breath today, with small green numbers across the board. Bitcoin, however, continues to struggle, while other major coins like ethereum and XRP show clear gains. Positive economic signals from the US are also offering new hope for the market.
Market Overview: Bitcoin in the Green #
The entire crypto market is up 0.5% today, providing a brief respite after weeks of losses. Bitcoin is trading 0.5% higher at $86,800. It was a relatively volatile day for bitcoin: the price initially rallied from $86,000 toward $89,000 but lost momentum throughout the session, erasing most of the gains and settling with a modest 0.5% increase.
Compared to other top-10 cryptocurrencies, bitcoin’s gains seem modest. Ethereum climbed 2% to $2,900, boosted by continued confidence from major holders. For instance, BitMine Immersion Technologies recently purchased millions worth of ethereum. XRP also performed strongly, rising 5% to $2.19, making it the only top-10 coin in the green over the past seven days.
The green prices align with positive economic data from the US. Inflation figures released today at 14:30 CET showed producer prices slightly higher than expected, but core inflation came in lower than forecast. According to an analysis by Bull Theory on X, this is crucial for the Federal Reserve. Combined with other signs of economic cooling—such as a weaker labor market and slower wage and demand growth—this suggests inflation is declining further. This gives the Fed room to cut rates sooner, keeping a December rate cut likely.
